Leisure Services staff is dedicated to adding fun to our community. More specifically, the department is responsible for all City sponsored and co-sponsored recreational activities, community athletic programs for youth and adults, Willowbrook Golf Course and the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a variety of community centers and public parks. The Landscape Services Division is also responsible for the grounds maintenance at various City facilities and along numerous roadways throughout Winter Haven.

Summer Camp Information:   

Prices, scholarships and discounts vary depending on whether or not you reside inside Winter Haven city limits.  Please keep in mind when you are registering your child for summer camp, that having a Winter Haven address and paying City of Winter Haven utility bills does not necessarily mean you actually live inside City limits.  If you would like to check your residency prior to registration, please call 291-5656. Also, when you are registering your child, please make sure to bring two documents that have your name and current address on them.  Click here for a comprehensive camp flyer. 

 

Discovery Camp

Discovery Camp is an enrichment based camp with activities that include field trips, games, sports, arts and crafts, swimming and more.  Lunch is provided.  Discounts and scholarships are available for city of Winter Haven residents only.  Registration begins Monday, April 8, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and will continue Monday - Friday until program is full.  Please call 291-5656 for more information.

Location: Chain O' Lakes Complex

Session 1: June 17 - July 12

Session 2: July 15 - August 9

Days: Monday - Friday

Time: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Ages: Kindergarten graduates - 14

Fees: $187.50 Resident per session per child

         $266 Non-resident per session per child

Rotary Park Playground Camp

Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, swimming and more.  Lunch is provided.  Rotary Park Camp is for city of Winter Haven residents only.  Discounts and scholarships are available.  Registration begins Monday, May 6, 6 - 8 p.m. at Rotary Park.  Registration will continue at Chain O' Lakes Complex, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., until program is full.  Please call 291-5656 for more information.

Fun on the Run

The mobile recreation unity will show up in your neighborhood with a treasure chest of activities and trained staff for registered children.  Registration forms may be obtained at one of the scheduled locations or WHRCC.  Program may be cancelled for the day due to inclement weather.  Please call 291-5675 for more information.

Ages: 6 - 13 (children under 6 are welcome when accompanied by a parent)

Natural Resources

This one-week summer camp is geared toward high school students with a strong interest in learning about and experiencing the environment.  Students will gain experience evaluating ecological systems, plant and wildlife identification, orienteering, and field sampling.  Outdoor based field trips will be a major component of this program and will provide hands on experiences that will change the way they view the natural environment.  If you are interested, please call 291-5881 for more information.

Leisure Activities

The Leisure Services Division is committed to enriching the lives of our residents by providing an infinite selection of exceptional, meaningful and life-long leisure opportunities. Therefore, we encourage everyone to view the following links to learn more about various leisure opportunities!


Recreation

The Recreation Division is comprised of the Chain O' Lakes Complex, the Winter Haven Recreational & Cultural Center (WHRCC), Winter Haven Senior Adult Center, and Rotary Park. The division is responsible for the day-to-day operations at each of these facilities and all related programming, including after school and summer youth activities, and instructional classes.

Community Athletics

The Athletics Division is comprised of the DiamondPlex Softball Complex, Winter Haven Tennis Courts, and the Rowdy Gaines Olympic Pool and Winter Haven Recreational & Cultural Center (WHRCC) swimming pools. The division is responsible for development and implementation of youth and adult athletic programs, coordination for tournaments and competitions and serves as a liaison with area youth sports leagues.


Willowbrook Golf Course
 

One of Polk County’s best kept secrets, Willowbrook Golf Course offers a challenging, yet forgiving layout that is a pleasure for golfers of all ability levels to play. Amenities are available to enhance your day, from the Alligator Grille to the driving range, practice putting green and chipping and bunker areas.


Landscape Services

The Landscape Services Division is responsible for the landscape maintenance at all City parks and most City facilities. In addition, the division maintains all athletic fields including Sertoma Park, WHRCC, DiamondPlex, the Chain of Lakes Stadium and numerous right-of-way and roadway beautification projects throughout the City.
