Mobile Food Dispensing Vehicles:
In September 2010, the City Commission approved Ordinance O-10-35 relating to the regulations of Mobile Food Dispensing Vehicles. The ordinance provides clear and concise regulations governing mobile food vendor operations to prevent safety, traffic, and health hazards. These regulations will also ensure that vendors meet local and state requirements, such as Department of Hotels and Restaurants, and obtain all applicable permits and licenses. For more information, please review Ordinance 0-10-35 or contact the Planning Division at 863-291-5600.

ProjectDox:
As part of our continuing
sustainability efforts, City
staff has been working with
Avolve Software to implement
the ProjectDox program for
the electronic submission of
site plans and building
permit applications.
Implementation of this
program reduces the amount
of paper, travel time and
expense, and cost
inefficiencies associated
with the previous method for
site plans and building
permit application.
ProjectDox is a project
management software package
that enables City staff and
customers to use a Web-based
browser to access a
centralized, online site. It
is a tool that improves the
City’s overall development
review process, from both a
timing and cost standpoint.
Applicants electronically
submit required materials
and City staff reviews and
provides comments via the
web site. In addition,
ProjectDox provides the
following benefits:
Provides the applicant email
notification when review
comments are ready;
allows the review team
access to one another's
comments;
is accessible 24/7 via
web-enabled device;
Allows team to graphically
compare subsequent
submittals;
Automates the internal and
external notification
process
Paperless online plan
submission; parallel plan
check and review; automatic
change notifications;
re-submission and approval;
Online access to approved
plans.
Below is information that
will be helpful when working
in ProjectDox and submitted
plans to the City:

First
Street Corridor:
The First Street Corridor
Project is a City-initiated
planning process that began
with a desire to develop a
vision for the primarily
commercial area on First
Street from Central Avenue
north to Avenue U, NW as
well as Second Street to the
east and west of First
Street. In order to develop
the vision, several public
meetings, or community
conversations, were planned.
The first community
conversation was held on
November 10, 2009. At this
meeting, participants were
asked to identify what they
currently like and dislike
about the corridor as well
as what they wanted to see
and not see along the
corridor in the future. A
survey was developed that
addresses these questions as
well. Information gathered
at the first meeting and
through the surveys was
compiled and presented at
the second meeting, held on
January 12, 2010. Additional
discussion with the
community at this meeting as
well as information
previously gathered was then
used to develop a draft
overlay district presented
at the third meeting, held
on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
The intention of the overlay
district is to develop
guidelines to encourage
economic development, ensure
safe access for all modes of
transportation throughout
the corridor, and to provide
design criteria to ensure
protection of the unique
character of the corridor.
Once the overlay district is
refined through additional
community input, it will be
incorporated into a plan for
the First Street Corridor
and presented to the
Planning Commission and then
the City Commission for
adoption. Stay tuned for
updates! For more
information, please contact
Erin Tilghman at 298-5353.
