Public Notice * On-Site Assessment for CFA Reaccreditation
The Winter Haven Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve reaccreditation by verifying it meets professional standards Administered by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments about the Winter Haven Police Departments ability to meet the standards of accreditation. Those wishing to submit comments can either mail or email to:

The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed. The CFA Assessment Team Leader is Chief Audrey Smith Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Other team members are Lieutenant Pam Steelman Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Captain Richard Christoff Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
The assessment is scheduled for August 29-31, 2017.
