Walgreens Carjacking UPDATE

A joint effort between the Winter Haven Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Wales Police Department has resulted in the arrest of 18 year-old William Bradley Summerlin. Summerlin was identified as the suspect who carjacked a woman outside of a Winter Haven Walgreens on March 1.

On March 3, 2016, Winter Haven detectives received information that Summerlin was headed to The Grove Motel in Lake Wales. On the morning of March 4, it was confirmed that Summerlin was at the motel. Winter Haven detectives along with the Lake Wales Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office converged on the motel. Summerlin saw the police presence ran back inside of the motel. A short while later, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Summerlin had a warrant for his arrest stemming from February 2016 charges of Resisting With Violence, Violation of Injunction and Battery on Officer/Firefighter.
