Located on the corner of Third Street Northeast and Lake Silver Drive, the Winter Haven Senior Adult Center plays host to a wide variety of recreational programs and activities for those 50 and older.  Musical entertainment, holiday parties, special interest speakers, classes, Wii activities, social group and shuffleboard are only a small sampling of what is available.  Mini Computer Lab.  The facility also has 24 shuffleboard courts and a large auditorium style hall available for rentals.

Exercise Classes:

Tai Chi *New Class!*
Learn moves for dealing with tension and stress in this Chinese martial arts class.  This class is for adults of all ages.
Day: Monday

Time: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Fee: $4 Resident, $5 Non-resident
Registration is required.

Zumba Fitness
Ditch the workout, join an exhilarating Latin-inspired, calorie burning dance fitness party.  This class is for adults of all ages.

Day: Monday

Time: 6 - 7 p.m.
Fee: $5 Resident, $6 Non-resident
Registration is required.

Zumba Gold
Join the Zumba craze! Zumba Gold is a fitness program that is specifically designed to bring Zumba to the active older adult.

Day: Tuesday

Time: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Fee: $2 Resident, $3 Non-resident
Registration is required.

Beginning Line Dance Class
Learn line dances to country and pop songs.  Join other dancers and learn some fun line dances or just come for the great exercise.

Day: Thursday

Time: 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Fee: $3 Resident, $4 Non-resident
Registration is required.

Wellness with Wilma
A 60 minute low-impact total body workout that includes aerobic, strengthening, balance and flexibility modalities.

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Time: 10-11 a.m.
Fee: FREE
Registration is required.


Low-Impact Exercise Class

This low-impact aerobic exercise class uses the Richard Simmon’s Silver Fox video tape, which is played on a large screen television. This is an excellent workout for all fitness levels.

Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Registration is required.


Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is designed for seniors and focuses on flexibility, strengthening, stress reduction and relaxation.

Days: Wednesday and Friday

Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Social Activities:

Dance Social

This dance social offers a variety of live dance music.  Couples and singles are welcome.

Day: Tuesday

Time: 7:30-9 p.m.

Fee: $3 per person

Country Western Line Dance Social

Join your fellow line dancers for a night of fun and dancing.

Day: Thursday

Time: 7-9 p.m.

Fee: $5 Resident, $6 Non-resident

Card Social
The card social provides a fun afternoon for different card games. A partner is not necessary to participate.

Bridge: Monday and Wednesday 1 p.m.

Pinochle: Wednesday and Thursday noon

Hand and Foot: Wednesday noon

Euchre: Friday noon

Domino: Friday noon

Bingo

Participants play for grocery items

Day: Wednesday

Time: 10:45 - 11:30 a.m.

Fee: $0.25 per card

Quilting Bee
Individuals bring their own sewing machines and work on their projects.  An instructor provides assistance if needed.

Days: Wednesday and Friday

Time: 1-3 p.m.
Fee: FREE


Winter Haven Shuffleboard Club
The shuffleboard club holds weekly shuffleboard games. This club also participates in state and district tournaments, turkey shoots and special events.

Days: Wednesday and Friday

Times: 9 a.m.
Fee: $10 annually to join the club


Painting Bee
This self-guided program allows you to compare and learn techniques from other painters or just enjoy the company of others while you paint.

Day: Wednesday

Time: 1 p.m.

Mixed Media Painting
Join accomplished artists and novices alike to learn painting skills using oils, watercolors and pastels.  If you already know how to paint, join us for expert advice, suggestions and critiquing.

Days: Alternating Mondays and Thursdays

Time: 9 a.m.
Fee: $10 Resident, $11 Non-resident

Chess Club

The chess club welcomes players of all levels and those that are interested in learning the game.  This is an opportunity to learn or to improve your skills.

Fellowship Dining (served by Polk County)

Session Dates: Ongoing

Days and Times: Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m.

Fee: Donation

Registration: Must fill out proper paperwork for county program

Hot meals served each week day to persons 60 years of age or older.  Participants must fill out proper paperwork and commit to eating at least 2 -5 meals a week.  Meals are provided and served by Polk Elderly Services.
