  Wastewater Plants:

The City of Winter Haven operates two wastewater treatment plants. Both plants are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Wastewater Division inspects and monitors industries and businesses that discharge wastewater into the City's sanitary sewer system to ensure those customers comply with City codes and State and Federal regulations. Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 has reuse water for discharge while Plant No. 3 has an overland flow operation for hay production. Specialty crews provide maintenance for plant facilities as well as the agricultural operation. Their primary responsibilities are to ensure compliance with limits for all wastewater parameters established under Federal and State regulations relating to water quality discharge. On the average, 5 million gallons of wastewater are treated each day at the City's two plants.

Also this division is responsible for constructing and maintaining sewer mains and lift stations. The division is responsible 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the operation and maintenance of approximately 255 miles of sewer mains and more than 140 lift stations.
