Recycling paper

Acceptable recyclable paper:

  • Mail, including envelopes
  • Newspaper, magazines, and catalogs
  • Office paper of any color (without staples and paperclips)
  • Paperback books

Tip: If you can tear it, you can recycle it

Unacceptable paper:

  • Greeting cards with glue or glitter
  • Mylar paper (shiny paper life giftbags)
  • Paper containers with food stuck to them
  • Shredded paper
  • Tissue paper, napkins, toilet paper, and paper towels

Why can't I recycle shredded paper? Paper smaller than the size of a credit card has the potential to cause jams in the recycling machines and cannot be sorted accurately.
