PUBLIC NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO THE REBUILD FLORIDA INFRASTRUCTURE REPAIR PROGRAM

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s (DEO) Rebuild Florida Infrastructure Repair Program was launched to fund infrastructure restoration and improvement projects in communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.  The 100% grant funding is provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program to address unmet disaster recovery needs related to damage from Hurricane Irma.

The City of Winter Haven is located in the area that experienced Hurricane Irma storm damage and is eligible to apply for this funding.  In accordance with guidance supplied by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and HUD relevant to the impacts of COVID-19, the public input requirements for this program include the option to post information about proposed funding projects on a public website with the provision of a 14-day public comment period.  A copy of this post and any public comments received will be provided to the DEO as part of the funding application submitted.

The City is proposing the following construction project for grant funding by this program in the estimated amount of $2,500,000:  Aeration Basin Catwalk Rehabilitation at Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3, located at 4400 Pollard Road, Winter Haven, FL 33880.

This project consists of repairs to the Aeration Basin elevated catwalk and handrails that were damaged by hurricane-force winds sustained during Hurricane Irma.

If you have any comments or questions about this project, please contact us via email at the address below by 21 June 2020.
