Burn Ban Lifted
On April 10, 2017, the City Commission passed Resolution R-17-23, which allowed for the issuance of a “Burn Ban” for Winter Haven. The Ban was to remain in effect until the Drought Index returned to a sustained level below 399, at which time it could be repealed at the direction of the City’s Fire Chief.
Because of the consistent amount of heavy rainfall over the past few weeks, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index has averaged below 399. With the present 372 drought index, Fire Chief Tony Jackson has determined conditions are now favorable to cancel the burn ban immediately. Please call the Winter Haven Fire Department at 291-5677 with questions.
