Sertoma Park Improvements for the Future!

Posted September 9th, 2021

The City of Winter Haven is very proud to be partnering with Whitehead Construction on renovations at Sertoma Baseball Park located at 1650 N Lake Shipp Drive.  The original park construction and improvements are thought to date back well beyond 50 years ago.  Through the years smaller itemized renovations have taken place but nothing that included an overhaul of the entire site.  The Greater Winter Haven Youth Baseball League calls Sertoma Park their home, and representatives have worked with the City over the past two years, to update the concession stand and restroom building.  In collaboration with the League, the City has worked with Whitehead Construction, Carter Kaye Engineering and Catalyst Design Group to create a comprehensive and detailed renovation plan for the baseball park.  Over the next few months, residents and users can expect three larger dimension fields for expanded play; new turf, fencing and backstops; new light pole with LED sports lighting; new dugouts; new scoreboards; and a new tee ball field.  Each field will be built with soil modifications and improved drainage.  In addition, the interior spectator area will include drainage improvements to correct existing issues.  To enhance the park with added value, the lakeside portion of the property will include vegetation removal/management along the lakeshore and lakeside walking paths to connect to the sidewalks in Lake Shipp Park.    The project is anticipated to be completed this winter with plans for a ribbon cutting for this $2.9 Million investment in 2022.  Have more questions?
