WATER TOWER PAINTING
The Magnolia Water Tower located in downtown Winter Haven is undergoing major maintenance including a fresh coat of paint. The City of Winter Haven contracted with Steven Brothers Painting to make the needed repairs and paint the tower. Key elements around the tank including the walking trail are covered and closed to the public for roughly two weeks. Once repairs are made, a protective sheet will be placed around the tank, the surface will be sandblasted, and then the painting will occur. The process will continue for about four weeks. This type of maintenance not only improves the appearance of the tower, but also prevents corrosion and protects the life of the tower. Disruption to water service is not anticipated during the completion of this project.
The tower will be painted with a creamy color called “warm sun.” While there has been much dialogue about a special logo or graphic on the tower, it is still in the discussion stage. This initial neutral paint shade will serve as the first phase of the process. Once the partners involved reach an agreement, the base paint on the tower will prepare it for the second phase of additional painting.
