Hook, Line, and Thinker Bass Tournament
December 5, 2020 @ 6:30 am - 4:30 pm
The Polk Education Foundation is hosting a bass fishing tournament to benefit the Take Stock in Children Program in Polk County.
Take Stock in Children (TSIC) is a statewide program, founded in 1995 in response to the need for a scholarship program that provides more than just financial assistance to recipients. Take Stock in Children is a comprehensive program that awards 2-year tuition scholarships to underprivileged students providing an extra incentive to stay in school, earn a high school diploma, graduate from college and enter the workforce. In Polk County, TSIC Scholars apply and are selected at the end of their eighth grade year. In addition to the 2-year tuition scholarship, TSIC provides each student scholar with a volunteer mentor to provide support, and a case manager to guide the student through High School and the college application process. TSIC also provides each student scholar with the opportunity to participate in many college and career readiness workshops, free of charge.
Each student scholar signs a performance contract agreeing to meet with their volunteer mentor regularly, maintain good grades (2.8 GPA minimum), exhibit positive behavior and remain drug and crime free. Each student scholar that meets these requirements is GUARANTEED a 2-year tuition scholarship to any public college or university in Florida!!
