Public Notice – 2023 Special Municipal Election

Notice is hereby given that in addition to the 2023 Regular Election for Seats 1, 2, 3, a Special Municipal Election for the City of Winter Haven, Florida to fill vacant Winter Haven City Commission Seat 5 will be also be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The Candidate Qualifying Period began Monday, September 18, 2023, at noon and ended Friday, September 22, 2023, at noon at City Hall, 451 Third Street, NW, Winter Haven.  (**This information was provided in the previous notice PRIOR to the start of this period, which included the Special Election)

Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of Florida, a registered voter in Florida and in Polk County, and reside within the City limits of Winter Haven at the time of qualifying and during term of office.  Term of office is the remaining unexpired term of Seat 5 (approx. 2 years) and will commence at a Regular City Commission Meeting in November 2024. This Seat is at-large and non-partisan.

City of Winter Haven residents who plan to vote in the November 7, 2023, Regular and Special Municipal Elections must register to vote by the October 10, 2023 book closing.  Voter registration forms can be found online at www.polkelections.gov or by calling the Polk County Supervisor of Elections at (863) 534-5888. Prior to Election Day, registered voters with any information changes and/or requests for vote by mail ballots must also contact the Supervisor of Elections.
