Mobile Home Fire Displaces Winter Haven Couple

Posted May 8th, 2020

A man and a women have been displaced after their mobile home caught fire at 53 Bream St. in Winter Haven. The home is a total loss.

On 5-7-2020 at approximately 5:08 p.m., the resident called saying she saw smoke coming from around where the central air unit was located and smoke was quickly filling the home. All occupants got outside safely. When Winter Haven fire crews arrived, they found the fire started in the area of the air conditioner and a hot water heater. Flames were located underneath the home and continued to climb the walls. The fire was ultimately extinguished, however the home is a total loss. No other structures were damaged as crews diligently worked to contain the flames to the single unit.

The Red Cross was called to assist the residents with living arrangements. Although it appears the fire started in the area of the air conditioner, the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause. No firefighters or citizens were injured.
