Public Invited to Join the Public Safety Division In a Host of Upcoming Activities

Winter Haven’s Public Safety Division will be celebrating Florida City Government Week, 10/22 – 10/28, with a host of activities to include the popular “Tweet The Beat”.

Starting Monday, 10/22/18, Police, Fire and Code Compliance will participate in activities that span the week. Displays will be set up in the Winter Haven Public Library with members available for questions on the following days:
10/22 – Police 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Code Compliance 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., 10/23 – Code Compliance 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Fire Department  5 p.m. – 6 p.m., 10/24 – Fire Department  10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
and Police 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. and 10/25 – Police 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.

In addition to the library activities, the public is invited to come out to Chick-Fil-A on Tuesday, 10/23 to enjoy coffee and Chick-Fil-A samples (inside only) as members from Police, Fire and Code Compliance will be there to interact with citizens. Members from Police, Fire and Code Compliance will also be at McDonald’s located at 245 6th St NW on Thursday, 10/25 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Friday, 10/26 will be an all-day “Tweet The Public Safety Beat” that will begin with a virtual ride along at 8 a.m. with a Code Compliance Officer followed by time with the Fire Department and ending the day with Police.

Finally, on Saturday, 10/27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., there will be a Prescription Pill Drop Off in the lobby of the Police Department and citizens can take a behind-the-scenes look at the Department if they wish.

The Public Safety Division encompasses Police, Fire and Code Compliance for the citizens of Winter Haven.
“Our combined forces make a more efficient system that streamlines public safety to better serve our citizens,” said Public Safety Director/Chief of Police Charlie Bird. “The activities we have going on throughout this week is one way to showcase the synergy that makes up our Public Safety Division.”
