Winter Haven Sgt. Awarded Commendation For Work at Law Enforcement Academy

Posted January 7th, 2019

Sgt. Christine Ford, a coordinator at the Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety was honored with a Sheriff’s Commendation, along with other coordinators at the Academy, for her hard work and dedication resulting in 100% pass rate of all 157 recruits graduating from Basic Law Enforcement, Basic Correctional Officer and Corrections to Law Enforcement Cross-Over Academy for 2018.

Even after the recruits complete the Academy, they are still required to pass a State Exam, which 100% of the recruits did for 2018. It is an extraordinary accomplishment that proves Ford’s desire for a “refuse to fail” attitude.

According to the Commendation presented to the coordinators, “The 100% pass rate is a direct reflection of your commitment to the recruits, as well as to the law enforcement and correctional agencies we serve.”

“Sgt. Ford is a prime example of the dedication and commitment to ensure Polk County has the best recruits available for all agencies,” said Public Safety Director Charlie Bird. “I am truly proud to have her represent our agency at the Academy.”
