With the growth and development continuing in Winter Haven, The Winter Haven Water Department strives to prioritize water and sewer infrastructure projects that capture multiple community benefits. The City of Winter Haven Water Department has contracted with Cathcart Construction Company to perform the following improvements to the sanitary sewer system within the vicinity of Lake Howard.

Cathcart Construction is well underway with the Gravity Sewer Replacement portion of this project on the West side of Lake Howard. As part of this construction Ave D. S.W. at Lake Howard Dr S. has been closed as the gravity sanitary sewer lines are being replaced. Residents directly impacted by the road closures have been notified.

Cathcart Construction is now set to begin the replacement of the AC Force Main on the east side of Lake Howard. Beginning Monday, October 30, Lake Howard Drive SW will be closed from Ave D SW to Ave B SW. Traffic will be detoured around the area beginning at 15 St SW to the west and Ave B SW to the north. The contractor anticipates this closure will last approximately three months. Updates will be made regularly on the City’s website, and staff will continue to coordinate directly with residents and businesses in the area.

South Lake Howard Drive SW will be open from 15th St SW east to Ave D SW for local traffic, and all businesses are remaining open during the road closure.
